Welcome to my practice! I have been practicing general dentistry in Truckee for the past 20 years, with an emphasis on preventative, natural, esthetic and advanced restorative care. My highest priority is giving my patients personal care in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I love our community, and am honored to serve the families living here.
Education and Continuing Education
I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California, and my Doctor of Dental Surgery from Northwestern University. I am currently a Clinical Instructor at the Kois Center in Seattle, Washington. The Kois Center is a world-wide premier continuing education center for restorative dentistry.
My Team and I are committed to constant and never-ending improvement. I enjoy the constantly evolving art and science of dentistry. In order to provide optimum care for my patients I take over 100 hours of continuing education each year. These courses are not typically lecture only, but participation workshops that allow me to enhance my skills to serve my patients better.
As a part of my continuing education, I have also been honored with the following accreditations:
- Member of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology
- Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry
- Distinguished Mentor: Creating Restorative Excellence
- Fellow in the Institute of Natural Dentistry
- Member of The College of Sedation in Dentistry
- Past President of the Northern California Academy for Dental Research
- Graduate of LVI and Pankey Institute
Achieving Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry is one of the few added distinctions a general dentist can achieve. The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) is the only professional association exclusively serving the interests and needs of general dentist. To earn Fellowship in the AGD, dentists must take more than 500 hours of educational courses in various disciplines. Candidates must also pass a rigorous exam. The award is then presented to general dentists in a formal ceremony., Robert Colpitts, DDS, FAGD is one of only 7 percent of general dentists who have achieved this honor. To learn more about this award or the AGD, visit www.agd.org.
In addition to these achievements, I am an active member of many dental societies such as the ADA, the International Association of Mercury Free Dentists, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and many others. Also, I am active in our community as a member of Tahoe Forest Hospital Staff, Truckee-Donner Chamber of Commerce, and past board member of the Truckee Donner Land Trust.
Experience
I have a great passion for dentistry and compassion for my patients. I strive to be a leader in natural dentistry. I have been practicing mercury free and mercury free dentistry for the last 20 years. I am proud to say I have been accredited by the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology, which sets the protocols for safe dentistry.
My team is fully committed to providing state of the art dentistry and outstanding service in a warm and caring environment. In doing so, we have won some awards! They include:
- Clinical Excellence from Creating Restorative Excellence 2004
- Guide to America's Top Dentists: Consumers Research Council of America (2002-2009)
